Welcome to my first post on Indieknits. I am not quite sure what I am doing, not being used to all this new-fangled websitey technology stuff!
Suppose I ought to introduce myself - This is Alys, old friend of Laura and Norfolks slowest knitter (so probably best not to expect posts very regularly!!!).
Just like Laura, I took up knitting as a distraction whilst giving up smoking - I was at a total low point, when Laura sent me the lovely Stitch and Bitch book - I went out on a needles and yarn mission straight away and haven't looked back since. Unfortunately, unlike Laura, I didn't manage to maintain the not smoking thing, so now have matching fag and yarn addictions to maintain, oh well, it's only money.
As Laura said, I am not a great one for patterns - mainly cos I can never find ones for the things I want to make. Because of this, I tend to get a bit stuck on accessories (they're much easier to make up as you go along). here is a piccy of my 'cosy cool aid cowl' made from a ball of Lauras yummy hand dyed wool that she gave me last time she and Ross came to visit us (us being me and my lovely boyfriend Rob). just CO about 20 stitches and garter stitch merrily until yarn is all gone, then matress stitch CO & CO ends - takes about 2 hours. Fantastic!
Anyway, thats me - Thankyou Laura for inviting me to post, I will try to do another one soon.
